It's time for Tool of the Month! Where we showcase some of the best RevOps tools in the market right now for you to try out 🔥 In the spotlight this month, we have:

Long story short 📖

Storylane lets you build interactive and guided demos for prospects and customers.


It's so quick to create your first demo:

  1. Storylane records your screen to capture your own journey through a section of your product.

  2. It then splices and segments the flow all for you, which you can then edit and change images / content / files to how you need it.

  3. Next you add guides, annotation, and even lead capture—whatever you need to do to guide the customer through.

  4. Finally, you publish and share!




Useful for 🛠️

Some of the companies we work with are using it for:

  • Onsite guided demos with lead capture forms at the end—to showcase the funnel at top of funnel, and to capture higher intent prospects

  • Interactive and engaging content for nurture track emails


We're also keen to try it for:

  • Guided onboarding videos

  • FAQs for Customer Success or guided how-to's for lower tier customer segments

    • A lot of our customers are looking to be more time-efficient, especially on Customer Success, prioritising the human-led experience for higher value customers. Storylane allows us to do this by providing value-add content for customers without the human time-sink.



Best features and why we like it 👍🏼

It is super easy to record, build and create your demos—the annotation is easy and allows you to add your tone of voice to the flow. It's also then equally easy to embed them on the site, Hubspot emails or landing pages!


^ when adding on Hubspot emails, often I'll create a GIF of a section of the flow to add into the email as a clickable link to decrease the email size.


You can also add Guides which is create for FAQs.


And another awesome feature (that we haven't tried ourselves yet) is personalising demos directly from Gmail which would be great for SDR/Sales outreach!



What makes this tool different? 🦄

In short—it feels lightweight, easy, and quick to test.


There will always be a sub section of customers who want to learn more about your product, but don't want to speak to Sales (yet!) This gives the customer an interactive way to see your product without committing to a longer demo. There is then the option to have lead capture at the end of your demo if they are keen and want to learn more.


The freemium option (more below) allows you to test this out and see if it's something your prospects/customers engage with.



Reporting capabilities 🧮

Pretty much as expected. On each demo we can see:

  • Number of visitors, time spent, completion/drop-off rate, CTAs clicked, and lead capture info.

  • On the Starter package and above it will also show you Account Reveal and the Company that your visitor works at—it doesn't always work so most likely it is based on IP address (very happy to be corrected on this!)—this isn't always perfect since your customers likely work-from-home sometimes and may not have a VPN...or work in a serviced office with a shared IP...



Would be better if...💡

If you are using Storylane on your own site, it's a little confusing whether they place Cookies on all visitors or not—and if this is in sync with the visitors' Cookie preferences that they have already selected on your site. Depending on your site it seems a relatively OK fix, but worth noting and chatting with them to check early doors!



Pricing 💲

At the time of writing:

  • There is a freemium option so you can try it out and build one demo. Their next level is starter at $40, which allows for lead capture, multiple flows and Hubspot/Zapier integrations.

  • From there there seems to be a Growth package and an Enterprise package with a little more functionality.

We started Tool of the Month to showcase some of the best RevOps tools in the market right now 🔥


While we always want to remain lean and efficient with our tech-stack, a lot of companies are still in discovery mode across all fronts—which means we are all testing what is working, all the time. We don't have all the answers. And what may work for one company and their customer doesn't work for another. We want to showcase the tools that make our lives that little bit easier across lead acquisition, conversion, nurture, retention, and analytics (did we miss anything?!) so you can trial what works best for you!
